Saadjie Terms & Conditions — version v2
Effective from: 2026-05-25
This is version v2 of the Saadjie platform Terms & Conditions. It replaces version v1 as Saadjie's primary payment acquirer changes from the Yoco gateway to Eclipse (operated by EFT Corp (Pty) Ltd, an authorised electronic-money issuer regulated under the South African National Payment System Act). By ticking the "I agree" checkbox at sign-up — and again each time you add a child to your account — you accept this version in full.
A signed, time-stamped record of every acceptance (including the version above, the timestamp, your IP address and your browser's User-Agent string) is stored against your account. This record is the legal evidence that you agreed to these terms at that moment, and it is preserved for as long as your account exists. If you accepted v1 before this version became effective, your historical acceptance row remains valid evidence for the period it covered; you will be asked to accept v2 the next time you sign in.
1. Who we are
Saadjie ("we", "us", "our") operates the website and service that lets a parent or legal guardian (a "Parent") set up a public contribution page for one or more children in their care, and lets friends and family (a "Contributor") make secure online contributions to that page.
2. Who may use Saadjie
You may use Saadjie only if all of the following are true:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are the parent or legal guardian of every child whose page you
create.
- You have the right to share each child's first name, age (or date of
birth) and the photo you upload for them.
- You agree to abide by South African law (in particular the Protection
of Personal Information Act, 2013 — "POPIA") and the laws of any country from which you access the service.
If any of those is not true for you, you must not create an account.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for every action taken on your account. Choose a password of at least eight characters and do not share it with anyone. If you suspect your account has been used without your permission, please contact us as soon as possible.
4. Content you upload
You retain ownership of everything you upload (your child's name, photo, welcome message and so on). By uploading you grant Saadjie a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, transmit and display that content for the sole purpose of running the contribution page.
You confirm and warrant that:
- Every photo you upload depicts only your own child (and not third-party
minors who have not consented through their own parent or guardian).
- The content does not infringe anybody else's copyright, trade mark or
privacy.
- The content is appropriate for a public web page — no nudity, no
contact details of children, no inflammatory or unlawful material.
We moderate every new child page before it is publicly visible (see the Saadjie moderation policy). We reserve the right to refuse, edit, or remove any content at our sole discretion.
5. Contributions, payments and the acquirer of record
Acquirer of record. Contributions are processed live through Eclipse, operated by EFT Corp (Pty) Ltd. EFT Corp is the acquirer of record for every successful contribution: the card-network authorisation, the settlement of funds, and the regulatory responsibilities that attach to handling card-present and card-not- present payments rest with EFT Corp, not with Saadjie. Saadjie is a merchant on the EFT Corp platform and never sees, stores or transmits your full card number.
Real-money charges. Every contribution submitted through the /contribute form is a real-money charge against the card the Contributor enters. There is no longer a demo / sandbox mode on the public surface. The submit-button copy on every contribution page is "Continue to payment" because that is what the next step does.
Settlement timing. Once a card-network authorisation succeeds, EFT Corp settles the net amount to Saadjie's bank account on the T+1 South African banking day schedule (i.e. Monday's successful contributions settle to Saadjie on Tuesday; weekend and public-holiday contributions settle on the next banking day). Saadjie holds the settled funds on behalf of the recipient Parent in a designated trust position until they are disbursed to the Parent under the disbursement schedule shown on the dashboard. Saadjie does not commingle contributor funds with its operating cash.
Refund window. A Parent may request a refund of a successful contribution from the dashboard for 30 calendar days after the contribution was authorised. Refunds are issued back to the original card via EFT Corp and may take up to 10 South African banking days to reflect on the cardholder's statement, depending on the issuing bank. After the 30-day window closes, the contribution is treated as finalised; a refund outside the window can still be requested via support@saadjie.com but is processed manually and may be declined if the funds have already been disbursed.
Disputes / chargebacks. A Contributor who believes a contribution was unauthorised, duplicated, or otherwise wrong should first contact support@saadjie.com so we can attempt a friendly resolution (typically a refund within the 30-day window). If that fails, the Contributor's issuing bank operates the chargeback path as the formal dispute mechanism — chargebacks are adjudicated under the card-scheme rules (Visa / Mastercard / Amex) by the issuing bank with EFT Corp as the acquirer. Saadjie will cooperate fully with any chargeback investigation, including supplying contribution metadata, IP, User- Agent and (where applicable) email correspondence. Chargebacks reverse the original settlement to Saadjie and are deducted from the recipient Parent's pending or future disbursement.
Platform fee. Saadjie may charge a small platform fee on top of the EFT Corp processing fee; the exact percentage is shown on every contribution page before the Contributor confirms their payment.
6. POPIA — personal information
We collect and process the following personal information:
- About the Parent: name, email address, hashed password, the time you
accepted these terms, the IP address you accepted them from, your browser's User-Agent string, the bank account on which Saadjie disburses settled contributions.
- About the Child: first name (or display name of your choice), age or
date of birth, the photo you upload, an optional welcome message.
- About the Contributor: name (optional / "Anonymous"), email address
(captured by EFT Corp at the hosted checkout page), contribution amount, EFT Corp transaction metadata (masked card BIN, last-4 of the card number, authorisation reference, settlement reference).
We use this information only to operate the contribution page, to email you receipts and notifications, to settle and reconcile payments with EFT Corp, and to comply with our legal, regulatory and tax obligations. We do not sell your information to third parties. EFT Corp is a separate POPIA-responsible party in respect of the card data it collects directly at the hosted checkout.
You may at any time:
- Ask us to show you the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct any information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your account and all associated data ("right to
erasure"). We will delete your information within thirty (30) days unless we are required by law to keep it (for example for tax records or for chargeback adjudication windows that have not yet closed).
7. Per-child acceptance
Each time you add a child to your account, you will be asked to agree to these terms again, scoped to that specific child. The acceptance is recorded against both your account and that child. This per-child acceptance is required because every child page has its own public URL, its own moderation status, and its own contribution record.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if a moderator finds that any of your content violates section 4, or if a payment investigation concludes that fraud has occurred. If your account is closed while a refund / chargeback window is still open, we may delay final disbursement until the window closes.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When the terms change in a way that materially affects your rights, we will issue a new version (for example v3) and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. The current version is v2.
10. Contact
Questions about these terms should go to support@saadjie.com. Questions specifically about a card-network authorisation, settlement or chargeback may also be raised with EFT Corp via the contact details on their website at <https://www.eftcorp.com>.
